SDA S8 Ep1: Sarah Tries Out Cheerleading

School had just started again after being out for Christmas break. Sarah realized that it was 2016, which was six years since she was a cheerleader in the 7-year future that she and Jr went to.

Sarah: (To herself) Well, I guess now is a good time to adjust to it. I wonder how I should start?

As she walked down the hall on her way to her first class, she saw that there were auditions opened for cheerleaders. So she decided to go on over to the instructor.

Sarah: Hello there.

Male Cat Instructor: Oh. Hello. What can I do for you? Are you here for cheerleader tryouts?

Sarah: Yes I am. It looks really cool.

Male Cat Instructor: Very well. What's your name?

Sarah: My name is Sarah Prowler.

Male Cat Instructor: (Writing it down) OK. And your phone number?

Sarah: (Can't bother to come up with a made-up phone number, but this is where she tells it)

Male Cat Instructor: OK. We will call you when auditions are ready.

Sarah: OK. Now, I better head over to my first class. I mustn't be late.

And Sarah went on her way. She soon arrived at class where she met her friend, Sylvia.

Sarah: (Sits down at the desk next to Sylvia) Hello, Sylvia. How are things?

Sylvia: Not going well so far.

Sarah: What's the matter?

Sylvia: Well, I was in such a rush to get to school that I forgot to have breakfast. (Stomach gurgles) And now I'll be hungry until lunchtime.

Sarah: Oh. I'm sorry about that. Anyway, want to her something exciting?

Sylvia: Sure. Anything to get my mind off food.

Sarah: Well, today I saw there were auditions for cheerleading and I stated I wanted to try out. Isn't that cool?

Sylvia: Oh. That does sound cool.

Sarah: It certainly is. I've wanted to do this since childhood.

Since Sarah and Jr returned to their own time after defeating a future Dr. Eggman, they didn't tell anyone about their adventure. So Sarah didn't tell Sylvia about how she got herself dressed up as a cheerleader and cheered for Jr and he was fighting Eggman.

(Cuts to the lunchroom during lunch time)

Later on, the girls met up with Jr and Stanley at the lunchroom.

Jr: Hey girls. What are you up to?

Sylvia: I'm just hungry. I missed breakfast.

Sarah: And I signed up for cheerleader auditions, Jr.

Jr: You did? That sounds...terrific.

Jr almost spilled the beans about their adventure in the future, but quickly silenced himself so he wouldn't give anything away.

Stanley: Just terrific? It sounded like you were going to say something else, Jr.

Jr: Oh. It's nothing, Stan. I was just trying to come up with the right word is all. (To Sarah) So when are the auditions, Sarah?

Sarah: I'm not sure. The instructor said he'd call for when they're ready. I think he's waiting for more girls to audition.

Sylvia: You know, boys can be cheerleaders, too.

Sarah: Wait. Really?

Sylvia: Yep.

Sarah: That sounds hard to believe.

Jr: Oh. I've seen it on TV. It's pretty much true, Sarah.

Sarah didn't think boys could be cheerleaders. She thought it was a girl's thing.

Sarah: They why don't you try out for it?

Jr: Me? Don't be silly. Sure, boys can be cheerleaders, too. But I don't think cheerleading is my thing.

Sarah: If you say so.

They then got to work eating their lunch.

Sarah: So what have you and Stanley been up to?

Jr: Nothing really. Just getting assignments that need to be done.

Stanley: Yeah.

The next morning, at the Prowler Family's house, before anyone went out for the day, Tails got a call.

Tails: (Picks up the phone) Hello? Oh, yes it is. I'm her dad. Where is she? Oh, she's still in bed. Oh. Uh....Should I get her? Oh. OK. I'll let her know when she gets up. Goodbye. (Hangs phone up)

When Sarah woke up and went to the table to have breakfast. Tails told her about the call he had gotten.

Tails: Hey, Sarah. I just got a phone call this morning?

Sarah: You did?

Tails: Yes. I was told you auditioned for cheerleader tryouts. Am I right?

Sarah: Yes. Yes I did.

Shaun: Cheerleader tryouts?

Will: What's that?

Cream: Cheerleaders are a group of people, usually all girls, that cheer for someone or a group of people to encourage them to do their best. Like at a football game or at soccer.

Sarah: Sylvia told me that boys can be cheerleaders, too. I've never seen something like that happen though.

Tails: Well, that is true, Sarah.

Sarah: It is?

Tails: Yes it is.

Sarah: OK. If you say so. Anyway, I think I better get things ready for tryouts today.

After breakfast, Sarah went upstairs and got her backpack packed up and then went with her brothers to school.

(Later at the school)

Shaun: So why exactly are you doing this, Sarah?

Sarah: I don't know. I just thought it would be a good idea considering Jr is getting older and will need some confidence during any future battles he has ahead.

Will: You mean like against this guy you call Dr. Eggman?

Sarah: Yes. Of course before we were born, Dad and Jr's dad used to fight against him many times.

Will: Did they need any cheerleaders to help them?

Sarah: You know, I don't know. I've never asked them.

Shaun: So when is this cheerleader tryout?

Sarah: It's going to be at four today after school.

Shaun: OK.

Will: Sounds good.

Sarah and her brothers then parted ways as they went to their classes. When Sarah got to her class, she sat down next to Sylvia. Sylvia was looking a bit down.

Sarah: Hey, Sylvia. Guess what? My audition is today.

Sylvia: It is? Great?

Sarah: Uh? Aren't you happy?

Sylvia: No.

Sarah: Why?

Sylvia: I didn't get enough breakfast. I did have some this time, but we were running late and I didn't get to finish. (Her stomach gurgles, but quieter than yesterday since she had some breakfast this time)

Sarah: What do you think of the cheerleader tryouts?

Sylvia: That actually sounds great, Sarah. I think being a cheerleader will suit you.

Sarah: I think it will, too.

Later at four, Sarah went into the gym where the auditions were being held. Sarah went into the locker room to change into some cheerleader clothes she had ready. When she came out of the locker room. She was wearing clothes where mostly red with white lines on the edges, a skirt, boots, gloves, and a shirt that has her tummy show.

Sarah: (Looks in the mirror) I look pretty cute in this. OK. Now for the tryouts.

Sarah then waiting in the line as she waited her turn. Some time had passed and then it was finally her turn.

Male Cat Instructor: Sarah Prowler.

Sarah: (Walks in) I'm already.

Male Cat Instructor: OK. Show me what you got.

Sarah: What I have? Hmmm. OK.

Sarah moved her pom-poms together, then she moved her arms out and then jumped high into the air and did a split. She then gave a smile. The instructor wrote on his paper.

Male Cat Instructor: OK. Can you show me what else you've got?

Sarah: Um...I can try.

After some time had passed, Sarah's audition was over and she exited the gym where Jr, Rosie, Shaun, Will, and Sylvia were waiting.

Rosie: Hi, Sarah.

Sarah: Oh hey guys. I didn't expect to see you here.

Rosie: Jr told me about your auditions today.

Jr: Wow, Sarah. You....you look great.

Sarah: Why thank you, Jr.

Jr: So how did you audition go?

Sylvia: Did you pass?

Sarah: Well, the auditions were a bit difficult. I was getting tired after a while and the instructor kept asking me to do more.

Sylvia: Oh. I'm so sorry about that.

Sarah: Why? He then told me he really liked my moves and said I passed. He even said I did a lot better than most of the girls who tried out.

Jr: Really? That's great!

Sarah: It certainly is.

Jr: So what are you going to be cheerleading for, Sarah?

Sarah: Soccer in the spring.

Jr: Wow. That's great. I think I should try out for soccer try outs. Then you could cheer for me.

Sarah: Yeah. That would be great. But I think I'll need to practice some more before spring comes.

Jr: Take all the time that you need, Sarah.

After all the auditions were finished, Sarah continued to do her practicing with Jr, Rosie, Shaun, Will and Sylvia watching her. She had just finished what she had done before.

Sarah: Well, what do you think?

Jr: That was wonderful, Sarah. Very wonderful.

Sarah:

Sylvia then stood up from the seats and went over to Sarah.

Sylvia: You know, I wonder if I could be a cheerleader like you, Sarah.

Sarah: Well, I don't know about that.

Sylvia: You don't know about that? I'm almost dressed the same was as one. Only I've been dressing this way since childhood.

Then there was a gurgle noise. This time, it wasn't just Sylvia's stomach that growled, but Sarah's too.

Sarah: Oh my. I guess this work out has gotten me a bit hungry.

Sylvia: Yeah. I know.

Jr: How about we all go for pizza? My treat.

Shaun: Ah yeah.

Will: Pizza, Pizza!

Sarah: I'll let Dad know. (Gets out her phone and starts to call) Hi Dad. Yes, tryouts went pretty well. Oh yes. I did pass. Aren't you proud? Great. Anyway, Jr, Rosie, Shaun, Will, Sylvia and I are going out for pizza? Is that alright? Great. OK. We'll be back by then. Alright. See ya. (Turns phone off) Dad said it was alright and he said he'd let everyone's parents know where we are. And boys (Talking to her brothers), Dad says we need to get home by eight.

Shaun: OK.

Will: That'll do.

So then, they all went to have pizza.
