TUFF Agents Season 6: Episode 3

Title: Hayai's Birthday Party

It was Valentines Day once again, and of course that also meant that it was my birthday. I was at my house that morning getting ready to go to TUFF for the day, but before that, I got out a package that was sent to me by my parents.

Renae: What do you have there, Dad?

Eli: It's a package from your grandma and grandpa to me, Renae. They sent me a birthday present and I chose to wait until today to open it up.

Renae: I wonder what they had sent to you?

Eli: Well your Grandma did ask me what I wanted for my birthday and I wasn't quite sure at first, but then I had an idea. Anyway, time to open it up.

Renae: Can I cut it open, Dad?

Eli: Sure if you want.

Renae used her claw to cut the tape open. Then I opened up the box. I put my hand in the box and first pulled out a DVD case.

Eli: Ah, just what I asked for.

Renae: What is it, Dad?

Eli: It's Gosei Sentai: Dairanger. It's the Japanese source material for the second season of Power Rangers. I figured I could ask your grandma to get it for me. I do plan on getting more of these online, but I'll wait to do that.

Renae: Quite an interesting gift. That's the series that has the red dragon zord, right?

Eli: Yep.

Renae: Great. I really liked seeing that in Power Rangers.

I then stuck my hand into the box again and pulled out a card. I opened it up and started reading.

Eli: Dear, son. We are glad you are doing well at your secret agent job and for also raising your adopted daughter. We hope you continue to do well with both of those jobs. Love Mom and Dad.

Renae: That was real nice of Grandma and Grandpa to give you that card, Dad. And it's great to know they're proud of you for raising me despite the fact that I don't have a mother right now.

Eli: Yeah. Well, we better get to TUFF.

Renae: Right.

So we headed out to our car and drove over to TUFF. When I had gotten there, the TUFF Agents did each wish me a Happy Birthday. I stopped into my cubical over at TUFF and sat down at my computer. A while later, Renae came over to me.

Renae: Hey, Dad.

Eli: What is it, Renae?

Renae: I'd like to go over to the Cheer Bunnies' practice center after work is over today.

Eli: Really? How come?

Renae: I was wondering if I could learn to be a cheerleader just like Hayai.

Eli: Well, I suppose we could go over there.

Renae: Alright.

Renae then left. She went over to the snack room where Hayai was at.

Hayai: So did you ask him?

Renae: Sure did. He certainly will be surprised.

Hayai: Yes he will be. You didn't tell him about....

Renae: Nope. I didn't say anything about it.

Hayai: That's a good girl.

Renae: (In her thoughts) I'm starting to feel like she's my mother right now.

When TUFF had finished for the day, Renae and I were the last people to leave.

Eli: OK, Renae. Now, we can go see the Cheer Bunnies.

Renae: Great. (Laughs to herself)

So I drove Renae over to the center where the Cheer Bunnies did their practices. We got out of the car and walked to the building. When we got inside, it was all dark.

Eli: Uh, Renae. I think it might be closed.

Renae: If it was closed, then why would the door be unlocked?

Eli: Good point. Maybe we just need to turn the lights on. (Flips the switch on)

Cheer Bunnies: SURPRISE!

Eli: Oh!

Renae: Happy Birthday, Dad.

Eli: Oh, Renae. You brought me here because there was a surprise party, wasn't there?

Renae: I sure did.

Hayai: The girls and I had this planned out, Eli. I asked Renae to bring her here after work today.

Eli: And it was a great surprise indeed.

Renae: Now why don't we go party.

So we had our fun at the party. The girls had gotten me some great gifts, but Hayai's present I liked best of all. When I opened up the present, I didn't understand what it was at first. It was a light blue shirt with a carrot on it in the same colors as the Cheer Bunnies outfit.

Eli: What is this?

Hayai: It's your own Cheer Bunnies outfit, Eli. I figured maybe you'd like to be the first boy on the squad.

Eli: But I'm not a rabbit, I'm a hedgehog.

Hayai: Who said you had to be a rabbit? We're not speciest.

Eli: Ah. That's good.

Renae: Wait, I thought only women were cheerleaders.

Eli: Men can be cheerleaders, too. It's not a female-specific thing, Renae. It's just mostly females that do it.

Hayai: Why don't you try it out and see how you look in it?

Eli: OK.

So I went over to the bathroom and changed out.

Eli: So, what do you think?

Susan: Certainly really good on you.

Felicity: I like it.

Hayai: Our first boy on the squad, and also our first member who's not a rabbit.

Renae: But you're still going to be called the Cheer Bunnies, right?

Hayai: Right, Renae.

Eli: Well thank you so much.

Later that evening when the party was over, Renae and I had gotten home.

Eli: That was a really nice surprise party that the Cheer Bunnies had for me. And you did a good job on convincing me to go there, not expecting a surprise party, Renae.

Renae: I know.

I went up to my bedroom and then looked at the calendar. I then noticed something.

Eli: Wait a minute, a week from today is Hayai's birthday. Hayai's birthday and mine are a week apart. That's so crazy. Hmmmm. If she had a birthday party prepared for me, maybe I could have one for her. But how can I do that?

Over the next week, I decided to meet with the rest of Team Shinobi to talk about my plans for giving Hayai a surprise party.

Whitnee: You want to give Hayai a surprise party for her birthday?

Eli: That's right. And I was hoping that all of you could tell me what I could do for it? What would she want at her party?

Shizu: Well, I know she likes sushi. All of us do.

Eli: (Writing this down) Sushi. Got it. I'll be sure to get some for the party. What else?

Mackey: Don't forget the cake.

Eli: I wouldn't do that. She likes carrot cake, right?

Mackey: Of course. What did you expect?

Eli: Exactly that. Any ideas for locations?

Whitnee: What about the usual building where they do their cheerleading?

Eli: No. That's where my party was. I'm thinking of doing something different. What places does she like to go to?

Shaun: Well, TUFF is an obvious choice, and there really isn't any place we could have a party be set up. Plus the agents are all working during the week.

Mackey: Too bad Hayai's birthday isn't on a Saturday or a Sunday. Then TUFF would be the best place for a surprise party.

Shaun: Quite like the one we had for Andy a couple years ago.

Eli: I remember that. That party was great. OK. Not the usual practice area and not TUFF. How about the park?

Shizu: Not the golf park, right?

Eli: Not the golf park. Just any old park will do.

Whitnee: We can help out with bringing in stuff for the party if you want.

Eli: That would be great. Thank you, guys.

Later that day, I went grocery shopping to get a cake for the party. I looked around the frozen food for any carrot cake.

Renae: Dad, do you actually like to eat carrot cake?

Eli: I've never tried it, but I'm not sure if I even like carrots. I know they're good for me, but I just don't agree with their tastes. Just don't tell Hayai that, OK?

Renae: OK. I promise.

We looked around for a bit until we found the carrot cake.

Eli: Ah. Here we go. (Opens the door and takes a cake to find Snaptrap at the back eating a piece of cake) Snaptrap? What are you doing in the frozen food section of the grocery store?

Snaptrap: This is the grocery store? I thought it was the skating rink. I felt kind of hot at DOOM.

Eli: How can you feel hot, Snaptrap? It's February.

Snaptrap: Yeah, but in this part of the world, we don't get much snow.

Renae: You're lucky. The whether has gone crazy on Mobius. Dad, should we arrest him?

Eli: Unless he intends to pay for the cake he's eating, probably.

Snaptrap: Oh no worries. I'm not committing any crimes today.

Eli: You better not be, Snaptrap. Anyway, we've got to go.

And we left. Later on, we stopped by the pizza parlor.

Eli: Hi, I'd like to purchase some pizzas.

Pig Cashier: Sure. What kind of pizzas?

Eli: Here's the list. (I hand over a list)

Renae: What is with the list, Dad?

Eli: I asked everybody what kind of pizzas I should bring to the party and wrote them down.

Renae: Ah. That is clever.

Pig Cashier: You know, just before you came in here, there was some lizard who was threatening me to give him some pizzas without paying, but then when you came in, his disappeared.

Renae: A lizard? Who disappeared?

Eli: I think I know who that lizard could have been.

Renae: Who?

Eli: The Chameleon. Who else? My guess is, he changed himself into something around here. Sir, do you see anything here that's usually not here?

Pig Cashier: Well, (Looks around) our tables are all in tact.

Eli: Hmmm. Question. How many tables do you have at your restaurant?

Pig Cashier: Twelve.

Eli: Then I better do some counting. (Goes to count) I've finished, and I counted thirteen. I bet the extra one is the Chameleon in disguise. Renae, would you tickle the tables until you find the Chameleon?

Renae: Sure thing, Dad.

So Renae went over to the first table and tickled it.

Renae: Nope. Not this one. (Moves to the next, but nothing happens) Nope. (After seven more tables, she finds him)

Chameleon's Voice: Hehehe. That tickles.

Eli: Aha. It's this one. Chameleon, you're under arrest.

The table Renae tickled last turned back into the Chameleon.

Chameleon: Oh darn it. I guess you were so clever to look for things that aren't normally here.

Eli: (Cuffs the Chameleon) Hey, it's what secret agents do. I got to make a stop at the prison and drop this guy off. I'll be back to pick up the pizzas.

Pig Cashier: Alright, sir.

Later after Renae and I had dropped the Chameleon off at the prison, we came back and by then, the pizzas were all ready.

Eli: (Gets out my wallet and pays for the pizzas)

Pig Cashier: Thank you, sir.

Eli: (Picks up the pizzas and heads to the car)

Over at the park, we had gotten everything set up for the party. The rest of Team Shinobi and the Cheer Bunnies were there. All that was left was to bring Hayai there.

Eli: Now that we've gotten the party set up, we just now need to bring Hayai here.

Renae: But how will we surprise her? It's outdoors. It was easier at your party when it was indoors. We just turned the lights out.

Mackey: You could cover her eyes.

Renae: Wouldn't she suspect that there was something up?

Shizu: I've got a better idea. How about we all hide somewhere, and then somebody will bring Hayai here and we jump out and yell surprise.

Whitnee: I like that idea. What do you think, Eli?

Eli: It could work. Now, who will bring Hayai here?

Shaun: Why don't you do it?

Eli: I think somebody else should.

Shizu: I'll do it.

Eli: Alright. Shizu will do it. Although, do you know where she is?

Shizu: She's over at her house.

Eli: Then go and get her and bring her here.

Shizu: I got it.

So Shizu left and we all went to find a hiding place. Later on, Shizu brought Hayai over to the park.

Hayai: It was nice of you to bring me over to the park, Shizu. It would be nice to have the rest of our friends here, too. Then my birthday would be great.

Shizu: Why don't we go over to the picnic table at the park?

Hayai: Alright. That sounds like a good place.

When they arrived, Hayai was surprised to see the picnic area set up for a party.

Hayai: Hold on. What is all this stuff for?

Then we all jumped out and yelled "SURPRISE!"

Hayai: Oh!

Shizu: Happy Birthday, Hayai.

Hayai: I don't believe this. You guys had been planning this party for me?

Whitnee: It was all Eli's idea.

Eli: It's funny how our birthdays are just a week apart.

Hayai looked around and saw all the stuff that was set up for the party.

Hayai: How did you know what to bring?

Eli: I asked everyone for help.

Mackey: We all pitched in and helped.

Shaun: And at the same time, we even stopped some crimes we weren't expecting to stop.

Hayai: Thank you all kindly, guys. Especially you, Eli. (Hugs Eli and kisses him on the cheek)
